چکیده

The concept of climate sensitivity has more than a century of history. According to this concept, a change in the global near-surface air temperature of the Earth, T , due to external disturbance of the Earth’s energy balance, can be linearly related to a change in the net radiation at some level in the atmosphere, F. Thus, T F, where is the climate sensitivity. By doubling the pre-industrial atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration, estimates of climate sensitivity have been made using a variety of methods, ranging from “back of the envelope” to sophisticated mathematical models. Thus, T2x has become a surrogate for and has played a central role throughout the history of the assessment reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in interpreting the output of numerical models, evaluating future climate changes from various scenarios, and in attributing the causes of the observed temperature changes. Estimates of T2x have been published in all three IPCC assessment reports, and since 1979 the accepted range for the climate sensitivity, from 1.5 C to 4.5 C, has stayed unchanged. Recent studies, however, have shown there is a significant likelihood that T2x greatly exceeds 4.5 C. This means that different policy strategies in climate-change mitigation and adaptation need to be considered. Prior to the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report (AR4), the concept of climate sensitivity has been intensively examined by several recent scientific workshops. Here we briefly overview the concept of climate sensitivity and show possible ways of its future development.

A Study of the Essence of the Cinematic Frame According to the Metaphors of the Window and Framework

The cinematic frame is the boundary between the cinematic image and the outside world. In the history of theoretical studies of cinema, the essence of the cinematic frame is analyzed in many ways. Here we focus on two significant viewpoints among them. One of these significant viewpoints considered cinematic frame as a window, and another one considered it as a framework. Both of them had (and ...

A New Climate vulnerability Index Sistan and Baluchistan province

The more exposure to Climate change / variability, the more vulnerability and a community with low adaptive capacity and high sensitivity is more vulnerable. Vulnerability reduction depends on adaptation policy and strategies. Designing and assessing these strategies require climate vulnerability (CV) measuring. To produce a new CV index, as a main propose of this study, first: The score of exp...

The concept of information science is not present in the high-level state documents of Islamic Republic of Iran

One of these documents is the Islamic-Iranian model of progress. In this document as well other high-level state documents, one can hardly find the word or even concept of knowledge and information science (KIS). This is mostly because the professionals in KIS discipline did not accomplish their function and therefore, although Iran suffers from the lack of real concept of storage and retrieval...

The equilibrium sensitivity of the Earth ’ s temperature to radiation changes

When the radiation balance of the Earth is perturbed, the global surface temperature will warm and adjust to a new equilibrium state. But by how much? The answer to this seemingly basic but important question turns out to be a tricky one. It is determined by a number termed equilibrium climate sensitivity, the global mean surface warming in response to a doubling of the atmospheric CO2 concentr...
